Sab-bat-i-cal

Like button, dinky and splodge, sabbatical is a truly lovely word. For me it evokes images of five long years of commuting to Richmond, long hours sat at my PC and throwing my toys at Excel when it won't tell me how to vlookup a business in Bolton.

But what does it really mean Jamie you ask? Well in a nutshell the outside possibility that somewhere in Vietnam or Thailand there's a beach with my name on it. And furthermore I'm off to see if I can find it!

If you don't like that particular take on our lexicon and you actually want the Stephen Fry endorsed definition then I owe a lot to the Greeks it would appear. Nothing new there then.
