Snakes On A Plane Takes Off

The producers reportedly went back and reshot some scenes to include really bad dialogue proposed by fans

Last month I wrote about the forthcoming fan film Snakes On A Plane and it is interesting to see the movie and it's marketing gathering pace in the academic field. This blog by Henry Jenkins talks to the emergence of how the nuance of fandom is now strong enough to propel projects when more traditional forms of marketing fail or are deemed behind the times. Aint It Cool News of course being the leader in this field.

So, if the film really strikes it big at the box office, we can see this as a powerful illustration of what happens when fans take charge of the promotion of a major Hollywood release.
