Seems Watford's very own Roman Abramovich has riden into town, in the form of Tory blue Lord Ashcroft, investing in one foul swoop a potential £6.2m - should his rights issue be accepted by the shareholders.

Only time will tell if this works out for the fans - in other words does he bring the stability that a manager and players crave whilst essentially bank rolling a business that traditionally loses money. And here's the question we're all asking - why as a savvy businessman with proven acumen is Lord Ashcroft investing in Watford FC. What does he stand to gain - he's not even a fan?
